New Library Carpentry Course Empowers Librarians to Support Data Management

The Library Carpentry Curriculum Advisory Committee (LC-CAC) has approved a new lesson, Data Management Plan Course for Librarians, as part of the Library Carpentry curriculum

Development of the course was supported by a grant to UCLA from the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to develop open science lessons for Library Carpentry.

This course offers librarians an introduction to providing data management plan (DMP) services for researchers. After completing the lesson, librarians will be able to offer basic DMP review services to researchers at their institutions.

This lesson is divided into five episodes:

  1. Data Management Plan Overview
  2. DMP Resources
  3. Supporting Researchers
  4. DMPTool and Common DMP Issues
  5. Data Management Plan Services
